Hunger Games Food Bank Fundraiser

December 18, 2024 @ 5:30 pm - 9:30 pm

Hunger Games 2024 Hamper List

Hunger Games 2024 Letter

Cops vrs Cadets was originally started in early 1998 when the First Nations Cadets on the Carry The Kettle challenged the local RCMP to a Volleyball game. The intention was to have a fun evening of volleyball and for the kids to relate to the local officers on a personal level. (I was with the RCMP and instructed the cadet program also)

I have been teaching cadets here for the past 6 years and we had resurrected this event last year with the RCMP, PA Police PA Firefighters, Parkland Ambulance, Conservation Officers, Air and Army Cadets, First Nations Cadets from Red Earth, PA, and Sturgeon all competing.

Basically, we will have a night where all participants will compete in relay events (VolleyballEnd to Ends, Basketball Shots, Volleyball Drills, Planking Competitions, Push Ups, Sit Ups and other fun events) This will not be serious competition but more designed to have fun and laugh. Points are awarded for winning or placing in events and at the end of the evening the team with the most points wins the large Hunger Games Trophy. Last year it was won by Parkland Ambulance, and they will be returning to defend their title.

The Christmas Spirit Trophy is awarded to the team the raises the most funds or food items for the PA Food Bank. Last year in total, we had raised over $8,000 in cash and food items which is important, especially at this time of year. Last year, the Sturgeon Lake First Nations Cadet Corps won this honor.

We are pleased to announce that PAGC Grand Chief Brian Hardlotte will be involved and will be bringing in a team this year.

The following Organizations have been invited to attend this year:

  • RCMP (Confirmed) – Team Lead- Wanda McKenzie
  • Prince Albert Police Service- (Confirmed) – Team Lead – Nolan Carter
  • Prince Albert Grand Council – (Confirmed) – Team Lead Deanna Nelson
  • Sturgeon Lake First Nations Cadet Corps (Confirmed) – Team Lead, Leanne Demerais
  • PA First Nations Cadet Corps (Confirmed) – Team Lead – Dawn Laprise
  • Parkland Ambulance (Confirmed) – Team Lead -TBD
  • PA Firefighters (Sask Firefighters Association) – Team Lead
  • Saskatchewan Conservation Officers – Team Lead
  • Provincial Corrections – Team Lead
  • Federal Corrections – Team Lead
  • Air Cadets ( Confirmed) – Team Lead – Clayton Letendre

Harolds IGA will once again partner with us and will create food hampers that participants or family and friends of participants can purchase for donation to the food bank on behalf of your team and that dollar amount will be added to your score for the Christmas Spirit award. Cash and food items can also be donated at the time of the event. (Hamper list will follow in future e-mails.)

We will also have a kickoff announcement through local media similar to this below with participants facing off in full uniform in front of trophy. (Date and Time to be announced once all participants are confirmed)

We would like participants to show their colors by wearing clothing or attire that reflects their organization and are also requesting audience to wear their uniforms etc.

All that is required for each organization is a team of 6 people. This is for fun, and it will not be highly competitive.
