POSITION SUMMARY
The childcare worker is responsible for the safety and supervision of Yuasni’s child attendees while parents attend programming. The childcare worker will provide quality supportive care,
and informational support that addresses each child’s unique needs. The childcare worker will
uphold the standards and policies of the Yuasni Tipi Family Treatment Centre.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES
- Plan, implement and guide children throughout the day with reading, stories, art, music, and active play.
- Plan outdoor activities and follow proper procedures according to Yuasni protocols and guidelines.
- Have knowledge/experience with children with developmental delays, challenges and/or diverse needs.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
- Must work collaboratively in a team.
- Communicate with parents and provide informational support.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Orientation/Certificate/Diploma in Early Childhood Education Level 1, 2 or 3 (must have a copy at time of interview).
- Minimum two (2) continuous years sobriety/abstainer
- Ability to communicate with adults and children in a kind and caring manner.
- Knowledge of play and exploration.
- Knowledge, awareness and understanding of First Nations Culture.
- Fluency in the English language is a requirement, fluency in a First Nations language within the Prince Albert Grand Council area is an asset.
- Certificate in St. John’s First Aid/CPR is a requirement.
- Effective interpersonal communication skills.
- Criminal Record/Vulnerable Sector Check/Child Abuse Registry Check (must have copy at time of interview).
- Valid Saskatchewan driver’s licence.
