The Prince Albert Grand Council is now accepting applications for the position of a Full Time Community Justice Caseworker for the Urban Alternative Measures Program located in Prince Albert.
This position is status blind and open to individuals of all backgrounds.
Duties:
Under the supervision of the Prince Albert Grand Council Justice Rural Co-coordinator, the successful applicant’s responsibilities will be to:
- Assist accused to understand their rights, options and responsibilities including court procedures before the criminal courts.
- To provide liaison services between accused & those involved in the administration of criminal justice.
- To assist in enhancing the awareness & appreciation of those in the criminal justice system to Aboriginal traditions, values, customs, languages & socio-economic conditions.
- To assist the client to obtain legal advice.
- To do alternate measures including mediation and formal cautions.
Qualifications:
The successful applicant must have completed Grade 12 or equivalent combination of education and experience; must possess a Sask. Driver’s license, transportation and willingness to travel. Knowledge of and sensitivity towards Aboriginal cultures and traditions is an asset for this position.
