LAND BASED HOLISTIC WELLNESS CARE PROVIDER

Position Summary

The Holistic Wellness Care Provider is a member of the land-based team that offers healing through land-based teachings, ceremonies and experiences on the land.

The Mental Health Care Provider assists youth in their grief recovery and rehabilitation process by teaching social, living and symptom management skills. Continuing Care aims to foster a sense of hope and dignity while developing a capacity for resilience as people move through healing.

Experience working as a team member in program and service delivery, together with strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills enable the candidate to establish effective working relationships with co-workers and youth as part of youth engagement and youth empowerment through land-based camps and activities.

Nature and Scope of work

The HWCP is responsible for:

  • Taking the lead role in providing mental health support for youth and young adults in our youth programs in communities
  • Supporting needs of participants during on the land healing initiatives and activities
  • Written reports outlining program activities
  • Maintain Code of Ethics and confidentiality of persons and those service providers of the Centre and clientele that they work with

Qualifications and Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology or a related area
  • Counselling Experience
  • Ability to work with youth and young adults
  • Background knowledge and skills of addictions /life-skills impacting the holistic wellness of youth and families
  • Ability to work in a non- judgmental & anti-discriminatory way and keep professional boundaries
  • Fluency in English a requirement. Fluent in a First Nation language with the PAGC area an asset
  • Certificate in Remote First Aid/CPR, ASIST, and CISM is a requirement within 60 days of employment
  • Possess a good working knowledge of First Nations culture, values, language, spirituality and community life on the reserves
