The Montreal Lake Women’s Shelter is seeking a compassionate, experienced, and motivated Senior Support Worker to provide leadership and support services to women and families accessing shelter services. This position plays a key role in client care, staff support, program delivery, and day-to-day shelter operations. Reporting to the Community Shelter Coordinaor the successful applicant will be responsible for:
Key Responsibilities
- Provide case management, safety planning, crisis intervention, referrals, and client advocacy
- Facilitate and deliver in-house and community-based programming
- Support and assist Crisis Intervention Staff as required
- Act as first point of contact in the absence of management
- Supervise staff when required and support staff training and orientation
- Maintain confidential client records, data entry, reports, and statistics
- Participate in program development, outcome measurement, and proposal support
- Represent the Shelter positively through community meetings, presentations, and public education
Qualifications
- Degree in Human Services or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum three (3) years experience in the human services field
- Supervisory experience required
- Training or certification in areas such as ASIST, Mediation, CPR/First Aid, TCI, Trauma-Informed
Care, or related modalities
- Knowledge of crisis intervention and interpersonal/sexual violence
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Excel
- Experience working with at-risk individuals preferred
Requirements
- Ability to opass required security clearances/vulnerable sector check
- Knowledge of First Nations cultures, traditions, and community-based approaches to wellness is required. Ability to speak one of the Prince Albert Grand Council official languages (Cree, Dene, or Dakota) is a strong asset.
