Position Summary
Under the direction of the Director of the Prince Albert Grand Council Engineering & Technical Services and the Senior Water Trainer. The WW Operator Trainer is primarily responsible for assistance in developing training material and presentation of training material in module format for First Nations operators in Northern Saskatchewan. In addition, will be responsible to:
Position Description:
- Provide on-site instruction to operators regarding the proper operation and maintenance practices and procedures involved in water and wastewater treatment, collection and distribution.
- Must be available for emergency response.
- Undertake and/or assist in the operation of facilities when First Nation request for emergency assistance.
- Conduct field investigations and inspections to identify work requirements.
- Must have five to ten years’ experience in working in the Water and Wastewater sector.
- Provide emergency assistance to correct equipment and system problems.
- Ensure applicable occupational health and safety guidelines and regulations are known and adhered to.
- Maintain effective working relations between the Prince Albert Grand Council, Chiefs and Councils, and staff and contracted employees.
- Perform other related duties, which may occur from time to time, as directed by the supervisor.
- Ensure the regular reporting and cost tracking of maintenance budgets is adhered to.
Qualifications:
- Must possess certification through the Provincial Water Certification Board including Water Treatment Class 2, Water Distribution Class 1, Wastewater Treatment Class 1, and Wastewater Collection Class 1.
- Must have a good understanding of operation and maintenance requirements of water and wastewater facilities.
- Must have a good working knowledge of electrical system, distribution system and physical plant systems controls.
- Must have a valid Saskatchewan Drivers License.
- Must be willing and able to travel extensively, by air, vehicle, boat, and snow machine throughout Northern Saskatchewan.
- Computer literacy is required.
- Must have great communication skills: Operators and Supervisors
- Must provide trip reports into program system.
- Ability to work and communicate in a cross-cultural setting required.
- Ability to speak an official language of PAGC (Cree, Dene or Dakota) would be an asset.
