POSITION SUMMARY
The Wellness Care Worker is responsible for the safety and household guidance of the Treatment Centre facility and equipment, as well as security of the clients during all “Off-Treatment” hours (nights, weekends and holidays). (Subject to Personnel Policies and Procedures of Prince Albert Grand Council.)
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide a warm, homelike atmosphere for clients, with support and empathy for all residents.
- Work shiftwork as needed.
- Guide families during indoor/outdoor activities and recreation.
- Responds immediately to all crisis situations, medical or other emergency, reporting to senior staff on a timely basis.
- Ensures confidentiality of all client information and activities within residence operations.
- Attends all staff meetings, program development sessions and in-service training workshops as required.
- Enforces all household guidelines and safety regulations.
- Supervises scheduled mealtimes and/or assist in the kitchen duties.
- Ensures that all areas of the Center are maintained in a clean, tidy and hygienic fashion.
- Follow guidelines and protocols in the event of fire, break-in, conflicts or other problems.
- Open to participate in cultural, recreational and community activities related to the Centre, as assigned by the Director.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum, two (2) years continuous sobriety/abstainer.
- Certificate in Mental Health & Wellness or equivalent.
- Fluency in the English language is a requirement, fluency in a First Nations language within the Prince Albert Grand Council area is an asset.
- Certificate in St. John’s First Aid/CPR is a requirement.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.
- Understanding of substance use, and process of treatment rehabilitation.
- Must be a caring and empathetic individual.
- SASW eligible to be registered
- Knowledge, awareness and understanding of First Nations Culture.
- Experience in one or more of the following is an asset; land based, First Nations cultural
methods, youth or life skills.
- Valid Saskatchewan Drivers Licence.
- Criminal Record/Vulnerable Sector Check
