POSITION SUMMARY

The Education Assistant is responsible for the academic supervision of Yuasni’s youth

attendees. Education Assistant will provide academic support, classroom guidance, supervise online learning activities, and assist in Land Based educational activities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan, implement and guide children throughout the day with reading, writing, math, stories, art, and music.
  • Have knowledge/experience with children with developmental delays, challenges and/or diverse needs.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Must work collaboratively in a team as well as independently.
  • Document incidents, reports, and daily/weekly academic plan.
  • Assist in Land Based educational activities.
  • Supervise and assist with online learning and activities.
  • Prepare online learning platforms and instructional materials for students.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education/Teaching Assistant Certificate.
  • Minimum two (2) continuous years sobriety/abstainer.
  • Ability to communicate with adults and children in a kind and caring manner.
  • Knowledge, awareness and understanding of First Nations Culture.
  • Fluency in the English language is a requirement, fluency in a First Nations language within the Prince Albert Grand Council area is an asset.
  • Knowledge/Experience with online learning platforms.
  • Certificate in St. John’s First Aid/CPR is a requirement.
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills.
  • Criminal Record/Vulnerable Sector Check/Child Abuse Registry Check (must have copy at time of interview).
  • Valid Saskatchewan driver’s license.
