Prince Albert Grand Council is seeking two full-time residential school workers in our Health and Social Development department. Under the supervision of the Associate Health Director, the incumbent will be a member of an interdisciplinary team and responsible for the day-to-day development, implementation and delivery of the IRS program. In addition to case management, program education and development, the incumbent will provide holistic support to survivors and individuals affected by the residential school system.
Regular reporting, both verbal and in written format, is a requirement of this position.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor of Social Work
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of two to five years working with individuals, groups and families affected by the residential schools and intergenerational trauma
- Experience in providing and facilitating information sessions within First Nations communities.
- Experience using a holistic approach to wellness
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Excellent interpersonal skills to create and maintain relationships with community partners.
- Ability to handle stressful situations in a professional manner
- Knowledge of community systems
- Culturally competent practices
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Possess a good understanding of First Nations culture, values, language, spirituality and community life on the reserves
