Mandate

To research, develop, implement and promote employability , to reduce the unemployment rate of First Nations clientele within the city of Prince Albert and area. To promote healthy relationships and provide necessary support to families. To positively engage our youth in Prince Albert and within PAGC Communities by highlighting programming in Sports, Culture and Recreation areas.

PAGC Urban Services strives to enhance an atmosphere of acceptance and knowledge of Urban First Nations residents in Prince Albert by;

  • Promoting Treaty Rights
  • Participating on boards and Commissions within the city of Prince Albert so First Nations voices may be heard
  • Cooperation with agencies and organizations to maximize services and programs & services in areas of education, health, justice sports culture and recreation, housing referrals, training and employment
  • To address the needs of First Nations members who migrate to urban centers
  • To participate on various boards and committees who’s decisions affect First Nations persons living off-Reserve

MISSION STATEMENT

To provide the necessary supports to ensure our clients have the required skills and/or education to obtain employment in their chosen career path.

MANDATE

GOAL

To reduce the unemployment rate for First Nations members residing in our service delivery area.

PAGC Urban Services provides several types of educational and employment support services. Clients may qualify for sponsored training if they meet the following criteria.

    1. Be a First Nations Member (valid Treaty Card Holder)
    2. 18 years of age and out of school for one year
    3. Must reside in Prince Albert or within ser-vice area

Youth Employment Readiness & Summer Student Employment

Youth Employment Readiness Program (High School Students ages 16-18)
Summer Student Employment support by placing the students in paid employment while still in Post-Secondary and University

 

Reaching Homes / Coordinated Access Housing Support

Since April 1, 2025 we have been focusing on Housing Loss Prevention; more of an advocacy role and dealing with Tenants rights as well as responsibilities. We continue to do some housing placement if an individual/family requires some form of advocacy. Our client base will be with those who are vulnerable yet able to live independently with some navigational assistance. PAGC Urban is a great location for Reaching Home because of their programs involving education as well as employment opportunities. In addition, sports, recreation and cultural activities are available. We utilize Urban’s programs as referral points so clients can move forward in a positive and fulfilling manner. We offer a Wrap-Around service, with PAGC Urban Services as well as within our community.

 

Safety / Community Access

PAGC Safety program is a community awareness initiative for Safe driving, child seat clinic. The locations are throughout the Prince Albert Grand Council. Information dissemination throughout the PAGC area, affecting 12 First Nations and 26 northern communities. Initial activities include introductions (program and coordinator); asset review (s) community awareness i.e. Health Centers, schools and Band Offices.

 

Reintegration Program

The reintegration program is designed to assist/support individuals in the justice system who are being released to the community, providing support via referrals, programming, employment counselling, resume development. The main objective is to help the clientele to obtain and maintain healthy options to reduce from reoffending.
